In 2015 an unfortunate thing happened. The PCOS Association suffered a catastrophic loss of its web site as well as the backup to its web site. lessons were learned far too late to help the situation. More than 15 years’ worth of content was permanently lost. As with any volunteer organization, it was disheartening and exhausting for all of our volunteers with “day jobs” to think about rebuilding, let alone set about making it happen right away. Our people needed a break. As initial leaders in the space, knowing that other organizations had picked up the legacy of the original PCOS Association mission, we made a conscious decision to work behind the scenes to enable the missions of others, while taking a much-needed break from the daily grind.
In 2025, we decided it was time to re-boot the organization with a new mission. Today’s PCOS Association is focused on following and communicating scientific findings, in the context of underpinning personalized medicine. We believe this is the future of medicine and of PCOS treatment, as a multi-factorial condition with many different presentations. Some say that there are as many different “types” of PCOS as there are women with PCOS. It originates differently in different people. It shows up differently in different people. No one treatment or even combination of treatments works for everyone. We believe that PCOS is the perfect example of where the future of medicine is going – to the personalized front, where one-size-fits-all protocols are a thing of the past.
Hold on, here we go!
